Pick-Me Flower Bed

Pick Me Flower Bed

It It is difficult for children to admire flowers and not pick them.  In order to preserve the flowers in the main garden, there was a need to provide a space where students and teachers could pick flowers for enjoyment and study. Placed adjacent to the gazebo, the raised bed garden was originally anchored by a whimsically painted headboard designed by Outdoor Classroom Student Advisory Council members and painted by the visual arts class at the high school. Hurricane Dennis damaged the original headboard in 2007. It was replaced by a metal headboard also painted by high school students. Flowers that provide interaction, thrive with picking, and offer a multitude of blooms make their home in this area. They may include blanket flowers, zinnias, and Mexican sunflowers.
