Today, our school came together for a special Veterans Day program to honor and thank the brave men and women who have served out country. Our veterans enjoyed a presentation of colors, medley of songs performed by our 2nd grade choir, a salute to our armed forces, and a Blizzard treat.
We are so grateful for our veteran's courage, sacrifice, and dedication to protecting our freedoms. Thank you for your service!

Throughout the 1st nine weeks of school, Mrs. Addison's 1st grade class has been learning about different story elements. They learned about characters, settings (where the story takes place), conflict (what problems the characters have), and resolutions (how they solve the problem). To show what they learned about characters in a story, Mrs. Addison's students turned a paper pumpkin into a book character from their library book. Our WCPS family appreciated them sharing their creations by displaying them in library.

In the spirit of Halloween, Mrs. Rucker's 2nd grade class read the book, " I Need My Monster." The students then designed their our own monsters and wrote stories about them.

Yesterday, WCPS celebrated our amazing bus drivers with a doughnut and drink to start their morning right! They are the first friendly faces our students see each day and the last ones to send them home safely home. Thank you for all you do to keep our kids safe and smiling!

The week of October 27th-31st we will celebrate Red Ribbon Week with the theme, "Life is a puzzle, solve it drug-free!" Our students will learn that each healthy choice is a piece of the bigger puzzle of their lives. See the flyer below for our themed dress-up days.

Mrs. Griffis' kindergarten class read the book, "Big Pumpkin" by Erica Silverman. This is a story about a witch planting a pumpkin seed to make pumpkin pie.
